Matt Stillman, LCSW

Matt’s career as a therapist has spanned more than 20 years and has allowed him to practice in multiple States and countries.  He has had the privilege of working with people suffering from severe mental health difficulties, individuals in crisis, people in the criminal justice system, people suffering from addiction and dual diagnosis, first responders and people in higher education.  Through these experiences and over time, he has had the opportunity to develop skills as a practitioner and select more specialized areas of clinical focus. Matt has always been a person who believes, “it is better to be a master of one trade than a jack of all”.  The areas he focuses on as a therapist are addiction, depression, mood disorders, trauma, self-esteem and severe a persistent mental illness.  He has found that it is the exception rather than the rule that a person suffers from just one ailment and is always prepared to work with individuals who are dealing with any number of issues.

Clinically, Matt tends to work from a Cognitive-Behavioral (CBT) approach with strong elements of self-compassion (CFT) and strengths-based interventions.  He has been trained in various other modalities including DBT, crisis intervention, suicide prevention, relapse prevention and motivational interviewing.  Matt sees his role as someone who helps you find the solutions you need and work towards the goals that you set.  He looks forward to welcoming you to OASIS Counseling and working with you on the goals you have for yourself.
